Earlier this year the decorative archways over the Southwind Rail Trail and the Prairie Spirit Trail in Humboldt and Iola were completed. Now it’s time to give them an official grand opening!
Thrive Allen County will hosting an official dedication of the trailhead archways in Humboldt and Iola on Friday, August 14. The dedication in Humboldt at the Southwind Rail Trail (Hawaii Rd – East of B&W) will begin at 11am. The dedication in Iola on the trail (right off Hwy 54) will begin at noon.
Everyone is invited to come and celebrate these beautiful additions to our trail system and the people who made them possible.
Bicyclists, you can ride as a group from Humboldt to Iola between the dedication ceremonies.
The archways were constructed by local craftsmen, with major underwriting of the project by B&W Trailer Hitches, The Gump Foundation, and Brian Wolfe and Susan Lynn. Built primarily to draw attention to the trails, the arches have quickly become landmarks for visitors to the Humboldt and Iola communities, creating a new source of pride for local residents and trail users, in particular.
