Volunteers with the Southwind Rail Trail are hosting events on June 5th and 6th to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the Southwind Rail Trail.
There will be a group ride on Friday, June 5th at 6pm, beginning at Cofachique Park in Iola, and traveling on the Prairie Spirit Trail and Southwind Rail Trail, to Humboldt and back (or as far as you want to go). Snacks provided, as well as games and prizes for participants.
On Saturday, June 6th, there will be a Trail Work Day from 9-11am. Volunteers can meet at Iola’s Riverside Park. Long sleeves, insect repellent, and work gloves are recommended. A light lunch will be provided to volunteers.
A Bicycle Maintenance Clinic will be hosted on Saturday at 2pm at Cofachique Park in Iola. If you’re having “issues” with your bike, bring it to the clinic for assistance in troubleshooting and repair.
Saturday June 6th is also National Trails Day, a nationwide event that aims to inspire people to discover, learn about, and celebrate trails in their communities.
